Red Sox's Sam Kennedy Unveils Fresh Insights from Rafael Devers' Meeting
In 2025, the Boston Red Sox experienced one of the most thrilling weeks for any team in Major League Baseball.
Boston will be without Triston Casas for the remainder of the season because of a knee injury. Since then, the Red Sox have managed to handle themselves well at first base, though an anticipated solution did not pan out. After relocating Rafael Devers from third base to designated hitter, the team considered shifting him again to fill the void at first base.
The choice sparked significant backlash against the organization and generated considerable commotion throughout the league. The situation escalated to such an extent that lead owner John Henry, CEO and club president Sam Kennedy, along with chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, journeyed to Kansas City to have an in-person meeting with Devers on May 9th.
Kennedy joined "The Greg Hill Show" on WEEI on Thursday and shared details about the encounter.
Overall, it was an excellent journey," Kennedy stated. "Our main objective was to venture out and ensure we got the opportunity to meet various team members and staff, thereby reaffirming the standards set right at the pinnacle of our organization.
John Henry suggested going out there for some distinct discussions that will remain within the team. The conversation was straightforward and honest, emphasizing our objectives and dedication to victory; overall, it turned into quite a beneficial meeting. I am pleased we went ahead with this. This occurred at a crucial time during the season, even though it was still relatively early. There has been a strong drive towards success in recent years, and I felt compelled to convey these sentiments directly to the players. Our talks were notably productive.
